How do sliding windows work?

A curtain wall is an outer covering of a building in which the outer walls are non-structural, designed only to keep the weather out and the people in. A semi-unitized curtain wall glazing system is a type of structural glazing where the primary structural framing components are erected individually as an erector set. The glass panel and the spandrel, which can be either glass or aluminium are shop glazed and installed into the assembled grid work. The joineries and perimeter sealants are fields installed. The glass which is used today is ‘float glass’ which has uniform thickness, better transparency and good optical properties. Two other grades of glass are made by glass manufacturers. Tinted float glass or colored glass is used to reduce the effect of solar radiation, but the light transmission efficiency is also reduced.
